I looked at them on-line and wondered what voltage they run on... I.E if they can be hacked out :)

Picked up a set today and would guess the brightness at 2-300mcd - unfortunately the LEDs are sealed into a resin ball and my first attempt to free one resulted in shattered pieces all over the place - to late to search for the led.. Will try again tomorrow using some heat..

Only 3 or 4 spares with the set - and if the LEDs aren't recoverable tehn I'll just use them on the tree..

Of course if you can use them as LEDs with balls on the end they are def usable.. But me baybus's would look crap with them as they are.. :)

    Ok just succesfully extracted one..

remove led in globe from holder
    put in plastic bag..
Put in my small desktop vice
    Close vice until shatters
    Pick 3mm led from bits

Put LED in tester - very bright - I would hazard a guess at 800 mcd or more quite a wide beam and slightly diffused..

So 120 3mm bright leds for 25p each - not bad..
