is that the ghost rider, on a turbo charged busa 1300, think it puts out ~500hp, throws the front wheel in the air at 160mph, iv seen it on youtube he pulls past another big bike thats doing 170mph like it was doing 30mph! the acceleration is mad!

    found the vid!

Guess what you need to do to get into the 200mph club. I've seen a few of these guys at the RAF Portreath Motor Sprint, like Dillon on his 'Busa.

My little CX650 tops out at about 115mph, but at those speeds any surface imperfections will cause the bike to wobble.

what i like about motorbikes is the fact that they feel faster than your actually going, in a car you dont really feel big speed, alot of people here will agree that in big cars dropping the hammer at 60 can easily see 100 on the clock before you even know or feel.

worst time for me was driving my girl friends cilo for the first time, i pulled out to overtake on a dual carriageway expecting to pull along like normal in my car, looked down at the speedo and in what felt like 10s i had gone from 60 to 62, nearly got hit by a dam BMW! later found out that the dissy wasn't firing the 3rd sparky properly, effectivly giving 3 or 4 cylinders depending on RPM.

Nice video, pretty nuts. I used to live in Germany and there's a good reason why most people go 80-90mph, not 160mph.

ghostrider is nuts .. he has a deathwish tbh :D
ive heard this urban legend about a guy testing his new motorcycle in an abandoned airstrip. While aiming towards 200mph he got hit by a bird, wich went trought his helmet and buried itself into his eyesocket killing him.(tbh urban legends... so who knows)

This reminds me of Smokey's freeway exploits worldwide: 300km/h on the London A1 highway in his RB26-powered Supra JZA80 (arrested); 347km/h on the Autobahn in his VK45-powered Skyline PCV35.

All depends what car you're in really. 125mph in a Suzuki Cappuccino (very steep, very large hill, redline in 5th) felt fast, 140mph in a 911 Turbo didn't. I can imagine 170mph being quite comfortable in some of the recent hyper-saloons.

I dunno, if you've ever seen/heard described the effects of high-speed collisions on normal helmets, it's pretty plausible. I don't know why people even wear them if they're gonna go that fast, beyond 70-100 mph you're toast in a collision with anything no matter what you're wearing.

Guy hit a van at a junction on my commute a few weeks ago, his head was pulverised, died instantly. It's kinda ironic, since the helmet was the only piece of safety gear he was wearing and it did absolutely nothing for him :(

I cant quote the sorce because it was a long time ago but I remember learning that an impact over 40kph is all thats needed to seperate organs from bones.

In a collision perhaps, but if you get thrown clear of the bike/other car/lamp post and slide along the ground it could well save your life.

your saying hitting a stationary lamp post whilst in mid air is going to save your life, ROFL! i think it will kill you just as any other object that would bring you to a dead stop!

Please read my post again ;) I said if you are thrown clear of other objects (eg. a lamp post) then a helmet could well save your life.

if you slide and don't hit anything and are wearing proper leathers you cen survive very fast collisions with only minor burns, that is why people crash quite often in moterbike races and yet there are few fatalities. It's hitting things that kills you.
