Maybe my eye site if failing me, but i don't see an AMD FX-9590 in the results.

no but they have an 8350 @ 4.8ghz - my own 9590 is 4.7ghz and 100 points higher

In R15 they only show results for the 8350 @ 4GHz
Your screen shot shows the 9590 @ 5.06GHz

Or am i having a dumb moment here :worried:

I think there may have been some confusion caused by the fact we listed the overclocked frequencies from our original reviews of the CPUs in the graph too by mistake. We've only tested a select few CPUs at overclocked settings - the rest including the AMD CPU score are from stock speed. I've amended the graph now.

RE: other AMD CPUs, we're working more closely with AMD about getting hold of their top end chips but when we asked them a year ago for the AMD FX-9590 we were told they weren't sampling them. It's as simple as that.

Seems these chips going by the results from a few sites, don't overclock as high and require higher voltages than the 4770k cpus but give better temps.

Will still stick with my 2500K at 4ghz with no voltage tweaks. Haven't felt the need to push it any further for gaming at least. Probably different if you're into rendering etc.

:D Seeing as we usually get comments asking for this I'll drop them a line and see if their tune has changed!

That's pretty much it. It was quite a bit cooler tbh, and I'm working on getting some water-cooled results as well. But yes, most people I've spoken to from colleagues on other sites to motherboard PRs are hitting a wall at 4.8 with decent air coolers/AIO liquid coolers.

Not sure this has the desired gains over my 4770k but its certainly a fast chip at stock! I wonder if deliding to get temps down is on the cards with these chips? Either way, its not a bad chip and certainly not as hot as the previous cpu if 85c is all you saw. Good :)

It's a nice boost over the 2500k, but not nice enough to justify both a new processor AND a new motherboard. I can wait for Broadwell.

Can't say I'm shocked by its performance but if I'd of brought a 4770k I'd be not wanting to upgrade. How well it compares to other chips is nigh

Would I be correct in thinking that unless you need the extra cores for whatever reason and if you are mainly gaming then this is not worth the extra money over the i5-4670K/4690K chips?

I have an 4820K @ 5Ghz. Doubt I will need an upgrade for another 5-6 years. More likely I will replace 2-3 graphic cards until then.

Only I went from a 2700 to a 4770 so I could keep up with my favourite motherboard the maximus formula

Why did they release this chip now? Broadwell was supposed to be launched in about 6 months. Are there further delays to Broadwell that haven't been announced yet?

As well as my question above, can I ask Bit-Tech if you have an i5-4690K in for review?
