well here are some pics:
NES work in progress:
And of the finished NES:
all i need to do is hook up the controllers so i can plug it into a tele, grab a pad, and go back to 1985 (when i didn't even exist )
haha!. that soo cool. i whish i had time and (mostly) money to do something like that. very clean too, their isn't a mess of wires spewing from the back like some mods i've seen. i like this
Very clean! Nice job!
I really hope that the NES were broken BEFORE you started putting that computer in it..
Wait, so you're running an NES emulator on a machine that's built into the NES case?
Should I even bother asking if it would have been easier to just use the NES? And isn't the loss of duckhunt gun rather... umm... a huge loss to the whole NES experience?
In any case, very nicely done. I've seen it done a couple times but this is definately the most professional execution of it.
only if you liked giving NES blowjobs. (anyone who has ever owned an NES will know what I mean)
and he said in his last post that the controller ports were his next project.
Yea, the NES was buggered, the screen flashed on and off repeatedly.
and Firehead, the point of this mod was to pass some time, prove to myself i can use a dremel, make a cool original mod (which lets face it, how many NES mods are there, i know of one and it aint as neat as this), and also to makea good little pc for general net, and will play the old HL 1.6 engined games very well, and also serves as a quite DL machine as this rig is far too noisy to leave on overnight.
Thanks for the feedback though people
thats the same for all the old slot console like mega drives and the n64.
lol, cartridge blowjobs were all part of the fun.
i could always give my DVDs a blow?
duck hunt man... duck hunt.... still, v nice....
i like it, but man, i couldnt live with myself if i blew off the wonderous duck hunt like that. i would have tried to buy a light gun (i think ive seen USB ones before) and modded it into the NES light gun! thatd be so cool. also, can this thing play much in the way of new games? lol suprise your friends wiht a NES that plays HL2. i would also hack a USB gamepad to be a old NES controller.
well, since it looks like he preserved the original controller jacks, im sure there has to exist some serial or usb nes controller adaptor that could be used, with proper software + your emulator then you can at least use the original controllers, lets face it, as much as duckhunt was cool there are many more games for nes that are just as good, with only one function of using the gun probably not working im sure he makes up for it in just having a cool computer
nice job looks good very tidy.
Looks sick, I like it alot. I have 3 generations of nintendos, the NES SNES and n64. *******, so true, lol. Are you going to submit it to www.mini-itx.com ?
Wow, I was just thinking about doing this the other day. Then I remembered the NES was kind of an ugly case and decided against it. I would still like to have the controllers work on my PC. I think that would really bring the experiance back (other than blowing in the case and stacking the games in it, and the flashing screens .... the humanity) I also need TV, with old games it just looks funny on a computer monitor when the pixels are well defined.
Very nice mod.
There is a diagram and program listed on the NES PC mod on Mini-itx.com for hooking up the origonal controllers to LPT.
That does look sweet man. Been meaning to do an NES mod for awhile now.
Just can't afford the itx board yet. Maybe a summer project.
wiring up the controllers is my next mod, i tried various wiring diagrams but with no luck i'm afraid, need to do a bit more research.
overall this mod cost me about £250-£300
Bought these brand new:
800mhz mini ITX £69
256mb low profile pc133 £41.13
80w morex PSU £50
Then the 20gb hitatchi travelstar was about £30 and the converter about a fiver.
laptop DVD/CDRW and converter about £30
NES was £11
erm....OS is 2000 pro, also runs via KVM so i can easy switch to it
Very nice mod!
Some of my friends came to my house this week and they've noticed my NES under my bed.
I may sell it to a guy that is a console collector.
Why don't you attach a PS1 screen and make it mobile?
