So now there is a competition to design a mod with it, challenge accepted.
Should be fun and those 16 screws need to go for an easier way to put it on there :/

    Nice advert, nice case.

Still should have done a proper test using an aircooler, plenty of other cases that are designed with watercooling in mind are subjected to the tests, being aircooled only regardless in the name of fairness.

But then, advert is advert, the usual rules don't apply... :D

In all honesty I made the decision not to test it before the competition and adverts were even a consideration. I'm not even sure there are any air-cooled Obsidian 900D's never mind a case like this, plus it comes with no fans so we couldn't test it out of the box anyway.

We've relented with cases such as In Win's 901 and also with cases that include just one fan, giving the manufacturer the option of including another for extra testing, as we did with the BitFenix Neos because these cases are designed with air cooling - not watercooling in mind. But apart from this, half the fan mounts are designed purely for use with radiators, so testing it with just air cooling in mind doesn't make any sense, as does buying it for an air cooled system. You can't even remove the lower radiator mount - it's riveted in place. If anyone does spot an air cooled one, I'll cover my face in thermal paste and let Matt rub it in and draw rude words in it, something like that - I'm not really into eating hats.

That is one butt ugly case. It looks half finished, like its been partly stripped down and left unfinished.

No wonder they are launching a modding contest. they probably want to see what a finished version will look like so they can build one.

And for 390 quid, I can't see them shifting to many of these.

£390 for this case is absurd, £130 perhaps!

Not only that, which I agree with but, no fans at all and those 16 screws.

I think it's a kinda interresting case, but I couldn't see myself buying it. Cases that big aren't really my thing

Possibly the ugliest case I have ever seen.

That has got to be the cheapest looking expensive case I've ever seen!

I'm not eligible for the modding comp, but tbh even if I was I wouldn't bother! (can't polish a turd and all that).

Obviously the community voted for it, was a suggested price range given in the original design comp?

What in heaven's name did they do to SnowyOwl's beautiful case!
Just for reference, for those who haven't seen the original, this is what the design by SnowyOwl originally looked like:
    http://www.bit-tech.net/modding/2011/04/18/phobya-case-design-competition/5

I'm rather curious why Phobya felt the need to change the dimensions of the case from a reasonable size of 585(L) x 230(W) x 545(H) mm to the new 625 (L) x 235 (D) x 665(H) mm dimensions, or more importantly, what gave them the urge to give it all of those screws on the side panel... I'm sure one in each corner would have sufficed.

    Aha, but you can. :hehe:

In the right hands this case could be awesome & I expect to see that happen from the competition, open to world wide entries, nice cash prize involved along with help obtaining sponsorship which are both very awesome motivaters.

Just gutted I have no water cooled projects to my name else I'd give this a shot, oh well.

I remember the contest and there were some stunning designs. The one that won wasn't my favorite, but it was still a lovely looking case. It's a shame what they have made it in to. I can't enter the contest because I can't use sketch up photo shop or anything like that. That said I would love to get my hands on one of these cases, just to turn it in to a finished case.
Not that I am going to go out and buy one just to prove a point.

What has also dawned on me is the original design was by snowy owl and they have called it the Black owl. Any one else spot that?
