I want to run 2 rigs (2xCPU 1xGPU 2xNB) off a system with 1x120mm rad and a 1m p/a WACC res - still to test this out but would like some feedback to save wasting time... I think the res can cope with one system but I'm not sure if I need another 1x120mm rad in the second machine or if positioning the rad correctly could cool enough? IE cool the output from the 1st system before it goes into the the 2nd? I want to get a nice 3x120mm rad - almost sure that would do the trick - but thats a next payday purchase
I've though about this one before. One solution is to have two 'distibution' resevoirs, "hot" and "cold". The radiator loop would have a pump and rad and take from hot and empty to cold. The two pc loops would have not rad but pump from cold to hot. You then have a double overflow line so that if either res is too high, it drains to the other (the resevoirs are at the same height and the two lines are above one another, connected in a crossover so the higher level drains to the lower. EDIT: So that's two reservoirs with five ports each and three pumps I'll do a diagram when I have somewher to upload but it seems elegant enough.
Actually the drain arrows are probably misleading, but the imortant thing is that it could drain in either direction. You could do it with a single res with a divider, if you were making it up in plexi: This would be the approach I might one day use if I have a bigger place and wanted to cool a few PCs with maybe an outdoor radiator (to keep the fan noise away. Theres all sorts of scope for thermostatic control of pump speeds and radiator fans, and the whle arrangement is expandable for additional PCs. Of course this would also work in an external radbox with a pair of aquatubes....
Yes, dont be a water cooling freak and drop a benjamin for a simple radiator. Just check out heatercores for cars and find one that is big but not too big. Or instead of getting a bigger/second rad, you could make a huge cooling res to keep temps down
this is the case its going in, yes a heatercore would be cheaper but a 120x3 rad is just begging to be installed.. I think its important to make this thing esthetically pleasing this is my res, its more than enough to passivly cool one rig.... I just don't think it would be enough even with the rad to cool both (the second is a gaming rig with a 6800GT) and yes I know what a benji is
