Build Advice 2x GTX480's - PSU requirement?

    okies - 480's are going for around 220 on ebay
    can I run 2x 480's on a corsair 850?

    advice please :)

    Shouldn't be an issue, as long as you're not overclocking the GPU's with an i7 rig as a reference point you're probably going to looking at a draw of 630W (peak) from the PSU itself.

    If it's a AX or HX no worries, a TX may be a little close.

    Their power connectors are:
    8-pin = 150w
    6-pin = 75w
    PCI-e slot = 75w

    Two cards can take 600w at load (and there's some reference to higher than that in Furmark...). The corsairs run a single big +12v rail, so that should be fine.

    The rest of your computer will be 150w or so. You'll make it - lucky you have a decent PSU!
