I don't know about UK sources.

But could you use a small piece of acrylic as a lens/lightpipe and then just a standard round LED behind it? (I know you could do it, but will it work in your application?)

I bought some from Maplins online store the other day -I got them in the post this morning.

They arent the brightest Bloo LED's, but they are a lovely deep bloo, and perfect for keyboard (3mm) or case lights (5mm)

    Here are the codes.....

    JA22Y 3mm LED Clear Blue
    JA25C 5mm LED Clear Blue

They do other bloo ones, but I havent bought them so I cannot really comment on them.

i think he'd have more trouble finding a radioshack than the leds.... as in the UK they don't have a radioshack... and since radioshack doesn't stock square leds either... he'd have a really hard time... www.eled.com might have them... don't know about shipping to the UK though

Theres a Radio Shack in lichfield, Bluddy useless though -went in there to check it out, asked the assistant for the Blue LED's "sorry sir we only do normal ones" was the answer. Then went on to ask if they do cold cathodes "what are they?"

    So no use :)
