3 beeps then no shutdown??

    I have a new computer that I have built with an MSI KT3 mobo a athlon xp1600, a geforce 2 mx, a maxtor harddrive and a liteon cd-rw. I have set up everything and it loads windows xp fine but when I shut down it seems to close everything the screen goes black but then everything stay on and three beeps sound pause sound pause and sound until I pull the power plug out?? I have all the latet drivers but as I don't have the computer connected to the internet I can't do a windows up date would this help or does anyone have any other ideas??

    Have you tried backing up all your essentials and reinstalling your OS?

    Check your mobo manual for the definitions of the beeps. If that fails ring MSI...if not SCREAM!

    id try reinstalling windoze aswell...

    There's a patch for XP not shutting down properly, it's actually not a hardware fault, more a software fault. Odds are that if you re-install your O/S then you may still have this problem.

    Patch can be foud on Windows Update.
