Really glad to see Left 4 Dead included. The co-op gameplay of the game is still second to none.

I concur, surprised to see that it didn't make into the top 10. Makes me wonder what's there.

Don't forget this top 50 is a personal list, it doesn't claim to be a definitive list. If it was my list, Skyrim would be much higher.

True, but I'd put Dishonored in my top 10. It's one of only a handful of games I've completed several times (and of those several endings and playstyles)

    GTA V gave up, bored
    Witcher 3 gave up, bored
    Fallout 4 gave up, bored
Dragon Age Inquisition gave up, bored

Dishonored 100% complete, played through three times

..that's how good it was for me.

Nice to see L4D2 up there :) fantastic game I'm still playing it. And the screen shot was from my favourite level, dark carnival (this tall to die). I actually built a PC themed on that :D

I don't think this has been answered, but by listing a game in a series, is it a way of saying 'series X is good, but X part Y, was my personal favourite?'

Dishonoured lasted all of less than a couple of hours for me. The whole thing felt plastic.

Personally I look at these lists not for the games I know but for those I don't as I may have missed something worth trying for myself. If I already know the game I don't need the smugism of knowing someone agrees with me, or the outrage if they list a game further down than I would have or even not at all...

I'm enjoying this countdown. I like reading about other people's favourite games and why they like them, even if I might not always agree.

Having said that, if Counterstrike doesn't make the top 10 then I'll **** my boots. :D

I'm with SchizoFrog about Dishonored, it was enjoyable for a little while but then the plot got a little bit stale and the novelty wore off. After completing it once I couldn't build enough motivation play it more times.

    I'm interested to see what's in Rick's top 10.
Off the top of my head, my top 10 would probably be:

    10. Borderlands 2
    9. Euro Truck Simulator 2
    8. AI War: Fleet Command
    7. XCOM Enemy Unknown (I've not played any other XCOM)
    6. The Walking Dead
    5. X3 Albion Prelude
    4. Myst III: Exile
    3. Europa Universalis IV
    2. Civilization IV
    1. Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption (before the servers went down) or Half-Life

More solid titles, but the list is invalid unless it contains an X-Com game.

    Carry on.

May I also make a suggestion to the author?
When making the final part, can you include a full list of games (titles only) from 50 down? Just so we don't have to go searching dozens of pages looking to find if a specific title was included. Thanks.

    Thoroughly enjoying this.

Added Dishonored to my to-play-list :D

My guess is an "AoE" and one of the "settlers" need to turn up, but with only ten left...
    Maybe at least a C&C :D

Half-Life has to be in the top 10, so I won't mention it! :D

I hope the following make the top 10:

    Crysis
    Homeworld
    Mass Effect 2
    Metro: Last Light
    Total Annihilation

Nah, these are mostly clickbait articles, what could male them definitive anyway.

    Pretty good list!

    1) Starcraft 2 (BroodWar too)
    2) EVE Online (if you enjoy spreadsheets of economic power as much as I do!)
    3) Total War: Shogun II (Rome II too)
    4) Kerbal Space Program
    5) Homeworld (II too)
    6) Civ 3 (IV and V are good too)
    7) Wing Commander (II and Privateer too)
    8) Xwing vs. TIE Fighter
    9) Baldur's Gate II (Icewind Dale too)
    10) Empire (oldest pc game I remember playing, and still a classic... 1987!!)
