I wonder how this compares to the 950 sans power connector for power consumption. Overall performance seems pretty bad and the price isn't good either. Price/perf seems pretty mediocre lately imo.

Edit: Considering this is a budget card, I'm surprised it didn't have DVI-I.

We'll have to wait and see what prices actually are, but this just seems to reinforce the idea that the 470 is priced much too close to the 480. The gap between the 460 and 470, both in terms of price and performance, is quite large, whereas the gap between the 470 and 480 is far smaller.

At least this 460 seems to be efficient, quiet and cool, which is nice.

    What a terrible performing card.
Can't think of many use cases where you could wholeheartedly recommend this.

At the price it had me worried for a second but looking at the performance, I'm pleased I went with a used 780.

    Phew!

OCUK has one for £99. Ones with a 6pin seem to perform better, Guru3d's results show the 460 in a better light, though I was still expecting more tbh.

Would be a great little card for a cheap MAME cabinet, low power, cool running but powerful enough to run all the CRT effect shaders.

hexus rx 460 review is using a slot powered gtx 950 and like this slot powered card it also `suffers` from the power targets , both need a 6 pin power to get the most from them

AMD CPU's are rubbish for MAME.

    EDIT:

'rubbish' was a bit strong, but they soon run out of the required grunt needed to maintain a solid 60fps once you reach the mid 90's early 3D titles from the likes of Namco and the rest.

Very disappointing - this was meant to be showcasing how efficient AMD now are yet it's barely any more efficient then a 950 (both can run without a 6 pin but run better with one). How are AMD going to get back into laptops when their efficient card is no better then the competitions previous gen? How is this going to stop nvidia price gorging with the 1050 when the previous gen 950 built on a much larger node is still competitive?

I am probably the last person to defend AMD but I don't think the review suite helps them here, The card is designed for e sport titles like DOTA 2 and LoL would it not be more relivent to show the performance in at least 1 of those titles as part of the review?

Most people looking to buy this card will surely be more intrested in that level game than the latest witcher3.

As it is this card can not handle 1080p medium, in 2016 that's not a statement I ever expected to make.

FYI: there's a "Gigabyte GTX 460" when you meant to say RX 460 on the performance conclusion page

    :-D

Was going to get myself an RX 480 and give my GTX 670 to my lad, but might just get him this instead and keep my GTX 670. Both machines only really play CS:GO and Minecraft now, so I don't really need an upgrade that badly, just wanted an upgrade to the lads Llano APU, which still seems to do a fine job.

How does this compare to an APU?

Video I watched, where they test it in its marketed role against the top APU, it was getting around triple the performance at 1080p

So this is ******* than a 950, but three times the performance of an APU? :wallbash: I can't believe there's a market for it.

    Haha thanks - fixed.

To those mentioning esports, a couple things: our time with this card was extremely limited so developing benches with new games didn't seem sensible. And yes, I'm sure this card is fine for those games, this is mentioned in the review too, but our benches still allow us to compare with a GTX 950. I would have preferred to compare to a 950 without a power connector (or have a 460 with a power connector) but again I can only work with what I have. Ultimately I believe all the points on the last page are accurate and wouldn't have changed with the addition of esports benchmarks.
