    It costs how much?!:jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop:

Nice, though. If they did a dual-socket version, I might be interested. :D

I know the other Rampages never had them, but no PLX switches is annoying on a board like this. Given PCIe storage is now a real, mainstream thing, having as many lanes as possible is just a good idea. Not to mention if, like me, you're using 4 cards and PCIe storage there's a bit of an issue here.

The lighting is nice, being able to match your own theme or disable is good. Not being forced into red/black like the days of old is convenient.

I agree. Probably why it only has single U.2 and M.2 ports as well - I definitely think there's a case for two each of those on a board like this, with a minimum number of PCI-E lanes using 40-lane CPUs to allow a two-way x16/x16 GPU setup and raided M.2 drives minimum. If I had the cash that's what I'd do, if only for the willy waving.

I don't see why ATX & E-ATX dont follow ITX & put the M.2 slot on the underside of the board. No GPU heating the M.2 issues there!

I have been considering X99 for my next new build, whenever that may be but, £516 will be expected to pay for more than just a motherboard...

£500 and only 1 M.2 socket. You must be kidding.

Man not cool to see that it will hate GPU back plates like some boards I've had. Look how close the memory banks are to the top PCIE slot !

And then the penny drops and I realise they only have levers at the top :D

You can easily go full e-peen build despite that limitation:

Samsung will launch the 960 in Pci-e form and with nvidia limiting sli to two gpus you gain the pci-e slots for them, so it does just about work out.

6950x, Rampage V Edition 10, 2x Titan X, 2x 1TB Samsung 960 pci-e in Raid 0 and 128GB Ram with half of it used as a ramcache to mask the inefficiencies of Raid and pci-e limitations:D

(just don't look at cost or it would be a very literal killer rig)

£500 for a motherboard, wow, talk about how to sell capacitors and resisters at massive markups.

Little bit of an oversimplification don't you think?

Any chance that drive bay amp will be sold as a separate product? I need something almost exactly like that for my current build.

Creative do a few similar, I hate to recommend them though a Creative drivers support is shockingly poor.

You can also thank the Pound dropping for its price hike. It should be around £450, which is still a crazy amount of cash, but seems a bit more normal for the highest of high-end boards.

Putting the M.2 on the back of the board is just as bad, if not worse than putting it on the front. There's very little airflow, and for those of you that have one, you'll know that they run incredibly hot without any airflow. Even with airflow, mine idled at 60c until I put a VRAM heatsink on the controller as that brought load temps down to 60c and idles of around 40c instead.

Which one? I have the SM951 256GB NVMe (as my sig says) and it scorches itself when under prolonged load, so much so that it throttles. I'm not the only one, reviews state it too.

Reviews use benchmarks and benchmarks are pretty much the only thing that can even put a drive that fast and with such tiny capacity under prolonged load, so they are unrepresentative of real use.
