On par with a stock GTX 980 - that's not bad for a mid range card, although I still think the prices for 1060s should be £200-£220 and £240-£250 max for the third party cooler models.

Also, and I know it's very subjective and that it doesn't really matter for most folk, but styling really looks like it was an after thought.

Still would not give Nvidia any money for a 1060 because of their cynical, market manipulating removal of the SLI bridge.

It really does show them at their very worst.

Whilst the 1060 is ahead of the RX 480 for DX11, there doesn't appear to be much difference for DX12, so I'm surprised that the 1060 is generally around 10% more expensive (granted there is a fair amount of price variation).

Plus for this card specifically, whilst it's 'pretty smooth' for 1440p gaming, I'm not entirely sure whether 6 GB of VRAM is overly useful for what is mainly a 1080p GPU?

Brand is about the price difference, Doom needs more than 4gb Vram to activate its highest settings. Even though the 480 4gb would offer fine FPS it can not select the option.

Actually, it can. You cannot use the settings menu but you can force it using the console. (Just add +menu_advanced_AllowAllSettings 1 to your launch options in Steam)

Well, while there are some nice cards out right now I'm still happy with my 980Ti and will wait until the 11xx/5xx series before I upgrade. Especially since I won't move to anything higher than 1080p before then anyway.
