Well, I've just disabled automatic updates (what a bloody palaver!) for my triplewide rig until I hear more about this (ie: it's not an issue any more).

Another thing to add to the 'reasons to hate Windows 10' list.

Tuesday gone, Microsoft typically issues Windows patches on the second Tuesday of each month.

This, with a side helping of Microsoft not actually releasing the Knowledge Base stuff until after the patch has been launched. That's right: I can't actually write about what's in a Patch Tuesday release to come any more, 'cos Microsoft doesn't tell me (or anyone else). Handy, eh?

Looks like I'm going to have to yank the ethernet cable on my Windows 10 rig the next time I boot it up until I can tell it to stop updating.

I wonder how well the Linux userbase is growing?

Funnily enough, pretty well: a popular website recently reported that three per cent of its user base overall ran Linux, a 14 per cent improvement over the year.

    Pornhub. It was Pornhub.

You'd probably need to start of by defining what we're considering Linux, is Android Linux, is Ubuntu, are we including servers, IoT, or just desktops? I think it's a bit like asking how longs a piece of string. :)

You'd probably get some really accurate statistics from there of all places given how broad the userbase is.

On the steam survey the split is 95.75% Windows, 3.31% OSX, 0.8% Linux, only adds up to 99.86 total, but even if we gift the missing 0.14 to Linux it still doesn't add up to more than a rounding error away from zero.

Ah that's annoying, I'm guessing I'm too late. Any way to roll back?

Damn... this installed, but I haven't rebooted yet. Will hold off on that for a while then!

Then it will just ignore you and reboot any way.

Naturally you won't get many people using an OS other than windows in an online game store...

Does this mean only games that are spread over multiple monitors, or does it affect those who only play fullscreen on one monitor but have a secondary?

For instance those using HDMI audio into a receiver?

Single monitor games are not affected, it seems. I did play GTA5 yesterday, and game was working correctly on my main 3840x2160 display, while the 2560x1440 in portrait mode worked correctly for stuff like Discord and web.

Not until the 18th at the earliest. I often do this with updates if they're dodgy and usually there's a patch before I'm forced to reboot.

I wonder if it affects LTSB as well as Home and Pro? I've had a few derpy monitor issues but put that down to grphics drivers more than anything else.
