'Buy for the long term,' company says. https://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2017/03/03/seasonic-psu-warranty-extension/1
Pretty bold for something that has several capacitors. Have a corsair now that's been going for years, to offset the other posters' negative reports. The quickest dying one I had was a be-quiet unit.
It is all but certain that we will have some new connector standards in significantly less than 12 years, so most PSUs will be in a landfill long before the warranty expires and for the handful that fail during the last couple years? Given the premium price charged that barely registers as a rounding error if they give away a couple new ones.
3 PSUs in regular use: OCZ Mod X Stream Pro 700W (since 28/06/2013), OCZ Stealth XStream 600W (since 06/03/2010) & Corsair 550W VX Series (since 09/10/2008). Like everything else lasted this long through a combination of quality & luck!
I've had too many issues with the AX1200i units and I've been put off of them for good. I'd much sooner buy a Seasonic over anything else. Well, that and EVGA units are on my buy list. Whenever this RM650 gives out, then it'll be replacement time with something better.
Interesting this - the only PSUs that I've ever had issues with were Seasonic ones... To be fair they did replace them both times but I did lose out on two lots of postage (and posting PSUs is not cheap...) I'm on an EVGA (superflower) one now and so far it's been solid as a rock.
I had a PC Power and Cooling PSU once. They are supposed to be of legendary quality --in the US they are considered the go-to PSU for a quality rig: Erm... yeah... Replaced it with a Corsair, which has been fine. Seasonic are quality PSUs though.
