Just wondering what people would recommend as a good socket 939 motherboard which has an agp slot on it. I'm guessing the nf3 is the way to go. I currently have an epox incarnation with an nf3 ultra chipset but i seem to have maxed out the htt on it at around 290 and as i have a 3GHz capable opteron 144 i want to be able to run it at that speed and so need a mobo that can do 330htt. Stability has to be perfect when running that high as its my main work pc which runs lots of intensive CAE stuff so i cant afford for it to crap out often. cheers Andy
that presents the dilema of spending yet more money, however i would be prepared to take the hit so long as i could get a similarly performing gfx card to my 6800LE for around £100. Would an ATi X800XT be up for the job? In that case, what nf4 based mobos can do 330+ HTT?
I was testing my DFI the other day to find its ceiling. It managed to get to 398 without falling over. Thats with a memory divider though as my RAM doesn't stand a chance of hitting that speed in sync!
My gigabyte 939 with AGP (bought at RapeUSA) can hit almost the same clocks my A8N-SLI could hit, I'll look around for a part number in a bit...
