That's a great mod. Now it needs it for 1151 CFL

    £62 ?!???

Nice product, just a shame it is "necessary" in the first place to get proper cooling.

Not so much delidding but what you are delidding. If you are delidding a £1500 CPU then £62 is a drop in the ocean.

Nice, some guys run direct die setups for ln2 with gains of 50-100mhz it seems, makes sense for it to filter down to ambient.

These won’t become a thing for CFL simply due to the substrate being way too thin. It bends much easier than Haswell or previous generations and has proven to be a massive issue with Skylake when direct die cooling is used.

Just like the old days of P3's & Athlons, when crushed cores were common... *nostalgia*... ;)

That’s why this bracket exists... to stop that. XD

The amount of crushed cores I used to see is probably why they stopped shipping CPUs with bare dies and started adding heat spreaders.

Yeah, that’s pretty much exactly the reason. However, it’s impossible to crush the core with this bracket.

I never really understood why they didn't make a shim a standard feature. It seemed an obvious pack-in for bare-die parts. And then they went to a full lid instead of a shim, just out of spite I assume.

Some one made one of these for Ivy. I forget who now, might have been MSI or Coolermaster?

But delidding was nowhere near as popular as most just stuck with their Sandy CPU.
