    The only thing I feel is 'lost' from the new one is some of the oppressive nature of the PS2 game. The PS2 not being able to handle those draw distances very well meant the environmental effects contain a lot of blur and very low poly models for distant things. It left the environments looking very sharp and detailed where you were, but indistinct and smudgy in the distance, which made them seem very far away and really hammered home just how small Wander and Agro are.

    It also meant the Collosi were these massive indistinct things coming at you until they were right on top of you (or in Dirge's case, right underneath you) and climbing onto a creature that you can't see the other end of really gave it a sense of scale.

    I'm not sure that's necessarily a negative to the remake though. The expanded draw distances look gorgeous, they've clearly spent the time needed to fill in what would have been gaps in the old game.

    Never played the original either (or the PS3 version for that matter), half way through this one though and thoroughly enjoying it so far:thumb:
