    Ah, the irony. There is one GPU vendor actually preventing OEMs from selling cards with AMD GPUs, only it's AMD themselves.

    Except that ASRock has said it is them rather than AMD that is keeping them away from store shelves in Europe for now which makes perfect sense since there is no chance that they can get sufficient supply of the RX580 and the lower end ones are only good enough for the hordes of LoL players in China anyway.

    That sounds like face-saving to me ("based on the history of mutual channel agreement" is a fantastic nonanswer). Why would they protectively contact Tom's to track down the source of the card if the decision was taken by ASRock internally just due to supply limitations?

    It may not be down to supply limitations but a lack of channel partners, if, as some people suspect, these ASRock cards are nothing more than rebranded Colorful cards then it's going to take longer for Colorful to go through ASRock to access those partners than in locations where Colorful can basically ship rebranded cards to the same people they already deal with.
