News Corsair launches Obsidian 1000D dual-system case

Dumb case. XD

 

Perfect for an ITX build...

 

It makes perfect sense outside of America.
With absurd customs and shipping costs / delays for both Caselabs and Mountain Mods the non-American parts of the world do need a really huge case from a manufacturer that has access to proper global distribution channels.

 

It's actually not bad looking either, if a little OTT on the RGB.

Never really seen the point in cases designed to house 2 systems though - not unless they are industrial things meant for productivity/server/specialist usage. How many people are realistically going to have a monster water-cooled/overclocked machine and go "I only need to send some emails and maybe stream some music while I clean my room - best use the ITX system instead"... I mean, that's a niche within a niche, surely.

 

The only thing I want to see Corsair do is re-release the 800D.

I'll be honest, for a lot of what I do, it would be pretty good to have two systems in one case, so I could start up a large crunch and then "do stuff" on the other system. Only problem is that I can do that already with a VESA-mount system like a low-end NUC (if I want it as small as possible) or, just have multiple systems. That way I don't have to take two systems down if I need to get inside the case.

But a remake of the 800D. Please...?

 

The RGB is not included as the case comes without fans.
Which makes perfect sense since people blowing a five digit amount on one build are likely to have some specific preferences anyway.

 

Even an '850D' refresh in the same vein as the 750D and 900D... an E-ATX case [so bigger than the 750D] that isn't as comically huge as the 900D [or this 1000D]

 

In PC history a race has been miniaturizing everything, But it's awkward that I'm fonder of stupidly oversized machines. Now I find myself eyeing Corsair's new massive super tower.

Only real problem is that the 750D isn't really a refresh of the 700D. The 700 was an 800D without the hot-swap bay. The 750D... was an attempt to shrink it.

I'd be happy with the 900D if it was cheaper.

I admit I thought the 750D was a 700D refresh when it was announced. Then I read a couple of reviews and was severely disappointed. It never fails to amaze me how companies can have a winner and decide to walk away from it.

 

Not quite big enough to be my new shed.
