Start saving: New god of ultrawides announced, 35", 3440x1440, 200hz, G-Sync and HDR http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/co...ift-swift-pg35vq-offers-hdr-quantum-dots.html Yes the price will likely be absurd and unfortunately it still has marmite styling like the previous ROG ultrawide, but whatever, must have upgrade of hopefully this year (no launch date).
If you ever get the chance to see a HDR display DO SO. The effect is fantastic, and I look at a calibrated display all day.
It will be about £2000 / £2500 if reports are to be accurate for the 2 monitors with HDR that asus are releasing which is well beyond everyone but the ultra rich really.
Considering there are ultrawides on the market for over £700 that have no HDR, no G-Sync and less than a third of the refresh rate it won't be surprising to see this one up on the wrong side of £1500 or even £2000. Sure its a lot of money, but it is an unparalleled set of features in a monitor and since we tend to spend a whole lot of time staring at monitors it is relatively easy to justify spending a whole lot of money on an absurdly good monitor unlike lets say a 18 core cpu or a Titan card.
I was intending to hold out for a ~40" HDR HRR G-sync monitor (none yet announced) as the eventual replacement for the current ultrawide (34" 3440x1440, 60Hz fixed), but this could be tempting.
