350 notes Rig Upgrade - Advice pls

    Hello :rock:

    I've got 350 hard earned notes to spend updating my rig.....

    Currently
    AMD Athlon 64 3500+
    Abit Fatal1ty AN8
    2GB Corsair XMS PC3200
    ATI Radeon X800 XL (R430)
    Creative SB X-Fi Platinium
    74GB Raptor & WD 200GB

    Any suggestions....

    I'm thinking of putting in a....

    AMD 4800+ X2

    and a

    Nvidea 7900GS

    Yeah, a 4800X2 would be my first suggeston, because bar your CPU and graphics card, your rig is pretty good. Not sure what to suggest for a graphics card. Alternatively, you could get a slightly cheaper CPU and get a decent graphics card....it's up to you really, what do you use your machine for?

    you could get a X2 4200 and then a 7950gt thatd be better for gaming, plus you could just overclock the athlon anyway

    Yeah, even a 3800X2 will do, and a 7950GT/ 1900XT

    :D Yup X2_3800+ or X2_4200+ and o/c combined with a 7900GS, 7950GT or 7900GTO. That should tide you over for a good while, until quad-core, DDR3 and DX10 are all mature and well priced.

    decided to blow my budget slightly (50quid) :eeek: (last months overtime)

    decided to go for a 4800+ X2 & a 7950GT

    thanks for the advice though............ :cooldude:
