3500 or 3200

    ok, for my next project Im going to be working with my same 2.4c for awhile, but soon a 3.2, and the new setup will only be a new mobo, and diff ram. The mobo will be an IC7 and the ram, I want either Mushkin LVL1 2x256 3500 2-3-3 or Corsair XMS 3200 2-3-3. I have read some reviews on the Mushkin, and they say it is really stable, and awesome ram, and the same for the XMS, now the question would be, does anyone have any experience with mushkin 3500 ram. It would seem like the better choice since its faster, but whats your guys take on it. I know that mushkin is awesome ram, and so is Corsair.

    3500 is probably your best bet... BigZ has some muskin, level II tho i think.... seems to be doin fine in his machine!

    it would depend on the price for me. I am currently running Corsair XMS 3200 and have the timings at 2-3-3-6. I was able to raise mine up to 210 fsb so far without any voltage mods. The Mushkin may be a bit faster, but it may not overclock as well. You are going to be dealing a bit with luck on this one, which is why i say if the Mushkin is much more cost wise, then it's probably not worth it. If anything, I would probably get some DDR4000 or higher if you are really wanting to overclock the fsb.

    If you are running a 2.4c on an IC7 surely you want to consider some PC4000, PC4200, or even PC4400?

    This will allow you to run the memory in sync with the processor ie

    2.4c @ 3.3 = 275FSB on the RAM at 1:1 or 220 FSB with a 5:4 divider.

    Ok so with the RAM at 275 FSB you will have to run at 3-4-4-8 but the extra FSB will easily offset the higher timings.

    I am running 4*256MB OCZ PC4200 EL and a 2.8c on an IC7-Max3 and can get a stable SuperPI at 250 FSB (2.8c @ 3.5) and 2.5-4-4-7 timings and stock RAM voltage (though the OCZ is under warranty up to 2.9v), and that is with the stock HSF...

    ...can't wait to get the water :naughty:

    Yeh, I have basically the same setup. I am running a 2.8c @3.5 with 1.625v vcore at 250fsb with a 5:4 divider. I had to run the 5:4 divider because i only currently have Corsair XMS 3200. How many volts are you pushing to your vcore?

    If I recall correctly I think it did it with the BIOS set to 1.575, which gave an actual reading of 1.525, the intended stock voltage. It was only superPI stable though, tried upping the volts a little more but no improvement and the temps started to get a little scary so I dropped it back. It seemed to be fully stable at 240 FSB, didn't try 245, but I am currently running at stock speeds until I get some decent cooling in there
