    Seeing what the RTX 2060 can do when overclocked, i'm struggling to see the point of the RTX 2070?

    Be interesting to see where the (utterly stupidly named) 1660Ti will sit in the pecking order...

    Most likely below the 2060 to push sales for those.

    I just feel meh about the whole 20xx line-up. There's nothing really exciting in it (right now). Obviously, wide-spread adoption of RTX in its various forms might change that, but I'd wager we'll have the 21xx series by then, if not 22xx.

    If I had to guess, I'd say maybe 15%-20% below the 2060, and obviously without raytracing. And yeah, it's an absolutely stupid and senseless naming convention. I'd have gone with 1160Ti myself, no idea where that leading 6 has been plucked from!

    So, do we expect 2060 -20% performance for 2060 -5% pricing?

    That's the big question, isn't it? I reckon it'll be fairly linear in terms of the price/performance ratio but that's just me pulling that from the ether.

    I would've thought along those lines as well, but then RTX happened.

    "X can be overclocked to the performance of X+1, what is the point of X+!?!" has been the refrain since there was more than one product in a product lineup, and misses that (1) not everyone overclocks, and (2) X+1 can also be overclocked.

    Yeah, but what I am getting at is;

    -RTX 2060 is a great 1440p card
    -RTX 2070 isn't a great 4K card
    -Overclocking a RTX 2060 makes it an even better 1440p card
    -Overclocking a RTX 2070 still doesn't make it a great 4K card

    So unless you have a 4K/UHD monitor, the factor of diminishing returns on an RTX 2070 makes it a huge waste of money over it's smaller brother for the resolution both are realistically aimed at.

    The idea that something is a "[resolution] card" is flawed from the get-to. There's far to massive a range in performance between games (and between performance with different settings within individual games) for that to be even a vaguely viable measure.

    Maybe for you, but when I shop for a GPU I look at average frame rates in the resolution I play at. That's why I bought a 1050 Ti when I only had a 1080p screen...

    Horses for courses. It's amazing just how many people waste cash on a GPU they don't need.

    The 2070 will give you more headroom for raytracing in all those raytracing games. :worried:

    85% of 2060 for roughly 90% of the price would be my guess
