i just got an IC7G and it came with 1 actual adapter for ide to sata
so yes you will need to buy more
ill have top read the manual later
i know 2 are definately useable as ide 3 and 4
not sure if u can rum a 5 and 6 though
im a bit buay at moment
terying to fix my damm res so ill try and take a look tonight for you unless anyone else can answer in the meantime
i cant see anywhere in the manual that says that sata 3 or 4 can be used as ide
though it doesnt say they have to be used for raid?
ill try connecting my 1 converter to sata 3 and see if i get anything
well i just put my sata adapted ide device into sata 3 port and booted up and its showing in windows
so id say that you can run them all on sep master channels as long as you buy the adapters
i cant guarentee 100% but it looks liek you can simply as im using sata 3 now without any probs
but baring in mind im not using 1 or 2 or 4
hope that helps
u get 2 sata leads, 2 sata power leads - molex to sata, weirdsd lookign things
but only 1 actual plug to make sata plug into ide
I've a IC7-G, when you boot you see a message telling you what Raid arrays you have and also any un-raided devices so it looks as if you can use the sata ports for 4 individual drives, but why would you want to do that? Raid 0 has a small but definite performance advantage. If you do use parallel ata devices they must be ata100 or better or they won't work.
