Not spend it all on a graphics card.

'Ive just bought this 4K telly, let me play my favourite game, Deus Ex MD...oh hang on, why is it slowing down, surely this NINE HUNDRED POUND graphics card can cope with it?!?'

When I said I find it very upsetting that you can't play all current games on 4K ultra with RTX cards (in this case I was talking about the even more insanely priced 2080 Ti and Total War something-or-the-other) I was told in this forum that I should calm my tits, because ultra details is just for show-offs and one could and should not expect it to run well on today's GPUs because OBVIOUSLY the devs don't optimise their code for the utterly insane people expecting top performance for top moneys.

900 GBP buys you nowhere near 4k/60 in so many games it's not even funny. Not even 1100+ GBP buys you that kind of FPS. And let's not start talking about some games and their frame time graphs even on the highest of the high-end hardware. I wonder if that's caused by nvidia not pushing performance hard enough generation to generation or laziness on the developer side or both or even more factors.

You have just won the outstanding phrase of the day competition.

Re the Strix, nah thanks. £900?!? I'm sure there's a market out there but i'll never be in that price bracket for a GPU.

Look at the Total War numbers again...

It runs worse on RTX cards than on the older 10x0 cards, so you can probably guess where the idea comes from that it is the fault of lazy game devs rather than hw manufacturers that it runs like shite.

(And no, just because it is the fault of lazy game devs doesn't change the poor performance / cost equation of the GPU)
