Hey Everyone As the thread title indicates I'm looking at an Xbox 360 one of the main reasons I want to get one is because large majority of my friend's own one and all play together on Xbox live and I want to be part of the action! and the other reason Is I would like to use it to stream music and movies from my PC. My only problem is I don't know witch one to choose! After searching around for a bit on the old tinternet I found two pretty good deals. http://www.game.co.uk/Consoles/Xbox...e-With-Preowned-Red-Dead-Redemption/~r354225/ http://www.game.co.uk/Consoles/Xbox-360/Xbox-360-4GB-Console/~r350682/ http://www.game.co.uk/Consoles/Xbox-360/Xbox-360-250GB/~r349710/ Any advice would be great! Cheers!
get the cheapest. and you get a free game, people might say about RROD with a second hand console but i have a classic model which has worked perfect with no issue for 4 years now. personally i would never get the new 4GB model because i don't like the fact that you will need to have USB storage (possibly several) if you start to get DLC for popular games with your friends then the space can add up quick. the new model is nice but no real benefit 120GB of storage will be fine for a lot of people
Don't get the 4gb, you'll want a hard drive and those are insultingly expensive if bought separately.
Go balls out on the 250 gb one. Its still cheaper than you 560 ti Amazing that an xbox can be had for as little as 90 pound now.
Buy a basic 'new type' xbox. Hard drives can be changed manually or picked up cheap from places like DX, although you really dont need a big on on an xbox anyway. Keep an eye on hotukdeals for the best xbox deals, although the best site for console deals.
If you can afford it I would get a newer one for the longevity and narrow it down to whether or not you need a 250GB hard disc... The newer 360s feature better hardware and so will last longer if you keep it, or will fetch more if you trade it in in the future. Also, much quieter DVD-drive and integrated wireless N! (admittedly the usefulness of this depends on your router) The hard disc size really depends on how YOU are going to use it in the future. Especially as you say you will be streaming your music and movies from your PC (will this be wirelessly or wired..ly?). This would suggest the 4GB model, especially as you don't NEED to install a game; you'll need the disc whether you do or don't and loading times aren't dramatically shorter (though still noticeable). Also, you can use up to 16GB of usb storage. But, xbox live games and DLC do add up. As do saved games if you are a serial saver like me. Renting/downloading HD movies from the Zune marketplace takes about 1.5GB (if your broadband connection isn't good for streaming). Also, if you move to downloading full titles instead of buying discs then you'll need the larger hard disc.. a full xbox game can be about 6GB before you add on DLC and patches (and saves) so wouldn't even be an option with a 4GB 360. I traded my 60GB model in for a 250GB new one, but that was less due to hard disc size and more to having built up a bum-load of Game vouchers and trade-able games. And my receipt had faded to white, so HMV refused to honour my extended warranty should my 360 break, which I was increasingly worried it was going to due. Also, the older 60GB dvd-drives were LOUD if I didn't install a game.
Ye I Think that's going to be the best option price wise foe me atm plus the wireless card in it really helps
Thank you so much for all the feedback and idea's there that's really helped me I think your right I'm probably going to go for the 4GB model as it's best for me price wise and then I guess in the future I can always choose to upgrade it and I would feel a lot safer with new hardware and the wireless N card would be really helpful as I would be connecting wireless maybe wired in the future. Once again many thanks for all the info
Hey, I just checked prices and the 4GB is £120 with the separate 250GB hard drive £55.. so buying the separate hard drive further down the line is only £15 more expensive to buying the 250Gb model (possibly less if you look around) So really, you can always see how you fair with the 4GB model and upgrade a couple of months down the line if you feel the need. EDIT: rah, I take too long to type Enjoy your new 360!
I know your choice is made.......but I would just take the £160 250gb one for peace of mind.....and emptier wallet lol ps. you said you have a voucher too, why not get the 250gb for £130?
Still supporting this without a doubt. 4GB won't just be cutting down on your extra content, it might actually prevent you from using your games fully. As developers run out of DVD space partial installs will become more common. Let's look at Forza 3, it comes on 2 DVDs and you have to install the second one to get like half of the cars. That's 2.5 gigs in itself. Any DLC pack on top of that is 400mb+. If you add that to the space reserved for savegames you can't even download a demo anymore. Because of one game. Sure you can use USB storage now but it's limited and frankly i think it's a hassle.
After going in to GAME 2 day keep in mind I have a £30 gift voucher I found and xbox 360 250GB slim model with a free game for £169.99 after much though I think its going to last me better and be alot better vaule for me regarding the few previous comments.
