As if we hadn't been gouged enough over the last couple of years :eyebrow:.

    Worrying, very worrying .

    Genius move IMHO.

The Asus Crosshair VIII Impact is the most interesting for me also, if those tiny fans for the VRM heatsink behind the rear I/O only start spinning when needed then take my money now.

Having upgraded to Ryzen+ last year, by the time I do another big upgrade PCIe 4.0 will be old hat, especially as I am gaming less and less as time goes on.

EK, Bitspower and the likes will probably be having a field day saving us from the X570 fan plague.

Until you buy the NH-D15 SE-AM4 and find out you need the NM-i115x Mounting-Kit to get your AM4 cooler on your AM4 board :D .

What happened to prioritising to conserving power, given that climate change a serious topic, churning out sucking ever more juice high-end boards seemed a bit thoughtless. I could be wrong though.

Although every little helps I don't think the extra 5w from a chipset is going to be an issue. Overclocking will use more energy.

5 watts on one motherboard is indeed insignificant but, by the time there are millions of X570 boards in use, we are looking at many Megawatts each day.

The production and disposal of the excessive retail packaging will probably be worse for the planet.

Would have been interesting to have got some statistics together on this forum a few years ago of the Intel/AMD ratio, then compare them once Zen 2 is fully out and people have made their upgrades.

Just looking at signatures, I wouldn't be surprised if it was already around the 50/50 mark.

A somewhat wider dataset, the Steam Harware survey might prove useful?

The only problem with the Steam hardware survey, they seem very keen to regularly check my ancient (4760K) Intel system for the survey, but haven't once decided to check my newer AMD rig. Both run side by side. I am not sure the survey is an accurate reflection, but of course am limited to my single example.

That's weird, do you use seperate Steam accounts on each machine or the same account?

I use both, I use my own on both, and when friends come over, they use their own accounts on the new machine.
