You know you've lost the plot on naming conventions where you need a info-graphic to explain it all!

2 digit SKU codes for 10nm, 3 digit SKU codes for 14 nm. Bigger numbers mean better performance, right? And overall it's always 6 numbers/letters.

    Well played, Intel.

Some of the "9th" gen launching so late that they just call it "10th" gen instead...

So the same crap as AMD is pulling with certain Zen+ chips having 3xxx model numbers.

Is it just me that thinks Intel needs to slim down how many SKUs they sell, there's market segmentation and then there's just confusion.

Yeah, but there are also yields to consider, plus it allows its partners to build all manner of different devices at all different price points. People don't really hunt these CPUs down by name; they tend to be abstracted at consumer level by the name of whatever device they're in, or Core i3/i5/i7at most.

Trying to keep up as an enthusiast though? I agree: Fewer SKUs pls!
