37 C Motherboard Temp, 30C Processor Temp . . . a little weird? I recently built a couple of workstation computers that operate 24/7 as security DVR boxes. I used an i3-2100 and p8h61-m board. I equipped the machine with a loud but high volume (60+ CFM) rear exhaust Scythe fan. I have been checking on the temperatures and am noticing that the processor is running noticeably cooler than the motherboard. Do you think it is anything to be worried about? Do any of you see similar results? I've seen higher temps on the processor 100% of the time with this one exception. Do you think it is because the DVR card is passively cooled maybe? Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Yes; generally you should expect any actively cooled components to be a lot cooler than passively cooled [minor] components. I had a S775 system where my chipset would sit at 50-55C and my CPU 25-30C. Nothing to worry about.
Glad to hear that you have similar experiences. The DVR card itself is almost as wide as the case I assembled it in, probably somewhere between 13-14". I suppose 37C is nothing to be even remotely worried about. But I probably will keep the imposingly loud fan inside of the case for the time being.
