News Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 and 2 remaster announced

Much excite.

 

Pleased for you guys, not for me but I can well see there'll be happy demand for this.

* Patiently awaits anything resembling a new or remade RPG *

 

I got all items and secrets.
I manual'd my way around all the maps like a true pro.
I even did the million point run.

But why oh why do devs/publishers have to remake games all the time? Yes, they were good/very good/brilliant. But let's move on to something that's actually got some kind of creative spark in it.

 

Yeah I understand the argument against remakes.

I guess I just fancy them for games I missed first time around and whose graphics I just couldn't live with now.

I just wish something I want to play got remade, oh but Mafia is getting a do over - missed that too first time round.

 

A good game is always a good game. That never changes. What does change is graphics. Case in point? Mafia 1 was by far the much more ambitious and better game than Mafia 2. Yet it now looks so bad I probably couldn't play it without getting headaches.

In fact if anything they ruined the THPS games over the years by adding too much cack and trying to make them more open world.

 

Completely agree with this. I thought 2 was the high point of the series myself - 3 just had a bit too much going on (and I hated the re-vert mechanic as it just meant every level turned into a two-minute combo-pulling session, which is dull as anything).

 

The first Dave Mirra was the best, IMO. It just looks like hot ass. The second was OK, but the levels started getting too big for their own good. By the time BMX XXX came along it was getting ridiculous.

Matt Hoffman BMX was awesome too (it was just THPS on a bike).

The best part (IMO) of this new series is the park creator and editor tools. It means in theory that every skate park in the world could be added by modders. Now *that* would be amazing.

 

I'll happily take an endless remake stream of real games over the job live service multiplayer dross like Anthem, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Destiny etc.

 

That I can get behind. Ubi and EA and Bethesda and all the other software-as-a-marketing-and-in-game-purchase-vehicle publishers can get lost, as far as I'm concerned.

 

That's great news! THPS2 is still my favorite one from the series!

 

I played the demo of the first game to death with mates and bought 1 and 2 so this will be a definite if they can bring the same feel with updated graphics.
