I've been playing is for something like 7 years, and I still enjoy going back to it now and then! Its like KSP or Rimworld, a amazing game that flies the flag for Early Access!

Benn playing for over 4 years now - I love it. It looked a bit daunting to start off with, but it's so well thought out and rewarding to play.

The Dev's have also been utterly fantastic, so refreshing to see a game developer that cares and listens so well to it's playerbase.

I see you decided to not go for production lines but more a production splatter gun approach :p

Factorio is a great game, makes your brain hurt. Mods are good too, the amount of space a friend and I used to set up gem stone refining and polishing was crazy. Wish I had a screenshot of it but I don't. And the worst part was it, in the grand scheme of things, probably was rather small.

My advice: don't put things close together. No matter how much space you think you've left yourself it's not going to big enough. E.g. the last photo is probably the area I'd have for iron and copper smelting with some research labs and that's all at the start :). But then I plan out two 8x8 smelter grid roughly, with space to upgrade to electric furnaces (assuming I do it right). Oh, and using ghost build mode helps.

I registered just to give my testimony of how mind-bending the game is… when I read about rocket science in the article my first thought wasn't about real life but more like "…what? I don't remember rocket science pack, only rocket fuel" :D
    Seriously, it's a lifechanger.

    Cheers

I often play games with a drink and this is not the game for that, many a time have I been staring at the tech tree, dribbling over a piece of paper with lots of spidery scrawled calculations of part production ratios, only to turn it off and play D3. I love it though.

I've been toying with the idea of buying it for a long time now. And I'm still nowhere near a decision.

On the positive side: it looks and sounds like a game I really could sink days into.

Read couple of FFFs, I'm pretty positive seeing the level of dedication of devs will make you buy it.

The demo is downloaded already. I just don't have time to play it right now. But I fear that's also a truism for the full version.

Damn you Factorio, I did download the demo and installed it earlier.
Had a quick go, thankfully had some work to do.
Now it's calling to my quietly to have another go....

I see a GIANT rabbit hole opening up and then rehab in the distance!

So, I do a bit of Factorio, I can stop any time. Right?

That's what a very reliable source told me, yes.

So I started playing it something like 7 years ago, that first year I played it a lot... and that was when it was basic... These days I drop in, play for a few days, then leave it, but i plan to go back now its released and have a full game...

Edit: I just checked, I have 106 hours on the Steam version alone, I must have played at least that again on the pre Steam version...
