    Well 3D mark 06 is out tomorrow, says Gamespot

    Pricing:
    What are your thoughts towards the new bench? Think it's going to cripple todays hardware?

    Another vote - it's not a terrible benchmarking tool, but I can think of better (Crystalmark for 3D for example...).

    Thats why 3DMark, imo, is ridiculous

    People buy hardware to play games, not run benchmarks which have very little bearing on real-world gaming performance.

    With 2001/2003 I had the impression they were maybe ahead of the curve by a year or so, and they managed to be reasonable indicators of what games that were say half-way developed at the time would run like for you when they came out, 2005 seemed to push more like 2 years ahead and 2006 is looking like continuing the trend (possibly even pushing it further?) While its nifty to see what games might look like that far ahead, to me it seems to have ceased being a usefull tool.

    yay another reason to want to get another computer, '05 was terrible i think it was like 108 3D marks i hate to think wat the old girl is going to get on '06...

    Agree with everyone else it's not exactly the best measure for 3D performance.
