    hi !

I want to learn how to use 3ds max much better, modeling, textureing, lighting, etc...
I guess the best option would be to take some lessons but that wouldn't work because of my school.
so, could someone please recommend me some good books that I could read ?

    thanks ! :thumb:

How about on-line tutorials and videos. You are here so you have the internet. I'm always jumping on some tutorial or other just to keep up what skills I may have had. All kinds of tips, tricks, tools, and techniques are out there.

Tough to find a good punchcard tutorial nowdays. Sigh.:D

yeah, I've already followed a lot of tutorials, but it's hard to find good ones.
I rather have books, so I can make annotations and such in them

ive been using "fundamentals and beyond courseware: 3ds max 7"

I strongly recommend it, it'll teach you everything from being a complete nub with the interface to UVW mapping custom meshes, so long as you follow EVERY page in order then you'll be suprised what you can do after getting halfway through the book.

obviously get the one for the version you are using.

online guides are very "meh" as they race along a tad too quick for you to get comfortable with what you are doing.

I bought the 3DS Max bible, and it's excellent.

    I think I'll go for the 3ds max bible, I didn't find a "fundamentals and beyond courseware: 3ds max 7" for 3ds max 9. thanks :)
