Very nice :) I'd still bevel the edges a bit to give a less harsh edge to some of the parts, but looks nice :)

It has some artifacts and would benefit from anti-aliasing ;)

There should be, but I can't recall off the top of my head.

The only time I really encountered the problem is in the shaded viewpoint when I wasn't using a proper OpenGL card (this was in XSI btw). But the problem never cropped up when rendering.

Could try something as simple as nudging the camera by a few degrees.

Does anyone know how i can create construction lines in 3dmax so i can place objects EXACTLY where they are meant to be and align objects right with each other.

I am trying to make an exact copy of my computer screen, and then my room :p.

I use Lightwave from time to time, I find it much easier then 3DMax. 3DMax looks so old... :worried:

Those artifacts are backfaces inside the structure arent they?

    Have you disabled backface culling?

RJ45: Inperfection is the key to realism. I'd round of those edges and dull down the lighting a little to get it lookign more real, ditching the artifacts would be good but there hardly noticable in that render.

ASUS MoBo: looking seriously amazing, i'm glad you picked the same mobo make as me :D

Bit OT, but heres a nice example of global lighting:

The skylight comes out great on the overhangs and details on the cogs on this crankshaft... I cant wait to see what that mobo will look like mounted and lit up

some sort of ranom bump map overlain on the surface of the connector might look like random inperfections in manufacturing as well.

    Just a though :)
I find that I can usaly spot CG in movies because of a distict lack of randomness. For example, most cast surfaces are never perfectly flat, they are slightly bowed. Other 'flat' surfaces also have some sort of texturing like tool maks, inperfections due to the material's grain structure, ect.
Then there are issues with lighting some surfaces so they appropriatly blurr their shadows.
Thesea re just observations I've made while compairing CG to the real thing.

For a realism guide, goto www.dvgarage.com, best tutorial on realism on the net

Small update, added the parallel port (Thank god that's done)

Wireframe (The parallel port is a little face heavy, I'll have to fix that later).
