hmm, i did post this last night but i cant be sure i wasnt dreaming now my apollo 3d thrill 128mb card got this on 3d mark 2001 and my ti4800 128mb only got this whats wrong with it
If your using the iwill 333r in your sig then you need to enableAli agp to make it go faster and a few memory tweaks with wpcredit. To enable the ALi bit either download rivatuner or this. I would try the link I gave you first it is the AGP Enable option on there, if its not ticked tick it then reboot.
Last time that happened to me was because V-Sync was enabled and i was getting a maximum of 60FPS in all tests.
To increase you memory scores which help in games and general smoothness try this, especially if you have more than 1 stick of memory. Using these my ti 4200 went from 6800 to 10500 with a XP1800+ and a few extra mhz oc on the cpu and gfx card. Not bad for a mobo that is nearly 2 years old.
herbs, ive already had to install the ali agp update because my old card wouldnt work on the board and xp for some reason so ill try that memory thing. [edit] and also the ali agp control center says its enabled too [/edit]
Load up 3dmark 2001 and goto the system info then Display Devices followed by the gfx card name and see how much memory is on the "Total AGP Memory" if its 0MB then the Enable AliAgp is not working and you will need rivatuner. Post back and ill msn you or meet you in the irc channel to tlak you through it. Don't forget to turn off AA and antistroptic (whatever its called) when benchmarking, and v sync as someone else said. You also didn't post the resolution of the test is it 1024 x 768?
how do i turn the v-sync off? is that in the display properties>advanced>nvidia thingy?? yeah i run the tests at 1024 x 768 but i run my normal pc activities at 800*600 ive looked in the system info thing and ive got this Total Local Video Memory: 128MB Total Local Texture Memory: 159MB Total AGP Memory: 0 bytes so its not on. my msn addy is knighttable(at)hotmail(dot)com cheers
That score is very low for the setup, you shouold be in the 9000-11000 range with that hardware. Make sure you have set you AGP Aperture size to 256 MB in you BIOS, it should be set to twice your videocards memory. You can disable VSYNC buy going to you nVidia controll panel, it is in the normal controll panel. Click Display icon. Then click Advanced button, then click Direct 3D settings and select VSYNC "always off". Then benchmark and see what score you get. BTW you want to turn VSYNC back on after benchmarking like when you want to play games, as you will see visual tareing when scrolling about if you leave it off.
what if you have a 256mb video card, agp aperature sizes dont go up to 512mb (not that i have seen anyway)
I'm 90% sure its the enable ALiAGP issue, which is the problem with this board at default settings its a POS but with a few tweaks it was the dogs ****s at the time it came out.
ok, thx for all ya help guys, especially herbs for teaching me how to tweek my graphics and my memory. here is a screeny of the much improved score ! ill post some oc'd scores later !
I had some serious problems with my Radeon 8500DV. I used to get in the 8 to 9000 range, but then after switching motherboards it was giving about 1200 tops. Most times it just crashed running 3Dmark2001. I tried a Radeon 9200 and same deal. This time I couldn't even make it finish the benchmark at all. I did a full reinstall of XP and it was all fixed. Who knows.
iam actually planning a format today or tomorrow (already done the rest of my network ) so ill post some screenys then
dont worry about it, good ol' msn6 saved my chat logs so ill just use them your advice was simple and strait forward
