    Hello, folks!

I wanted some informed opinions on this little processor comparison. I have a choice between the two; which one will perform better for me in general?

    Celeron D 345 (3.06Ghz, 533FSB, 256 KB L2)
    Pentium 4 2.4B (2.4Ghz, 533FSB, 512KB L2)

For the most part, I just do a lot of multitasking between fairly ordinary programs like Outlook, IM, Winamp, etc. However, I do use Photoshop from time to time, and I mix/multitrack music somewhat often. Will I see a substantial benefit from the doubled cache on the P4 and whatever other extras it has, or would the newer Celeron D negate those advantages?

Both are free to me, so please confine suggestions to the above processors.

    Thanks!

    Zach

I'd say the Celeron has enough sheer clockspeed advantage to make up for the fact that the Pentium has double the cache. Both of these are very outdated anyway though, but if you don't game or use intensive apps a lot, they should work.

There is no such thing as a dual-core Celeron, they are all single core.
