Hello all, i am trying to put a third screen onto my setup. I have just been given a pair of 19 inch dell screens for free and on installing them i can get my main 24 inch monitor and one of the 19's to fire up but the 3rd on remains blank.

I know it works as i can exchange my monitors in CCC and it works there.

But when i try and extend the desktop like i would usually do to get a 2nd display i just get "Unable to save display settings" when i have extended onto the 3rd display.

I have a 5870 (pretty old graphics card now but still good for what i need) and it has 2 DVI ports an HDMI port and a Displayport.

Having had a look around the web, i think i need an active cable to get it to work or possibly a displayport cable. The only problem is my three screens on have DVI or VGA.

Can anyone give me advice on what i may need?:thumb:

Yes, you'll need a display to be connected via Displayport to output to three screens. Here's an active Displayport to DVI adapter.
