Does anyone have any experience of running 4 displays of 1 card such as the Matrox M9148 LP PCIe x16. This card has 1Gb of memory to share with up to 4 displays. I'm not intending to game, but I do want a decent performance when playing video media and DVD/Blu Ray content. Can anyone suggest another card that will drive 4 displays. I would appreciate any info you have on the Matrox card or similar. Please note that ideally I only want to use 1 PCIe slot as the others are spoken for. Thanks. Matrox M9148 LP PCIe x16
I'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure those are quite expensive compared to normal graphics cards. There are options out there for 3 monitors though, like the TripleHead2Go or ATI's 5xxx series. I'm not sure when the Eyefinity versions of the 5xxx cards will be available, but they'll be able to drive 6 displays natively.
I agree, go for the 4850x2 2GB, probably a lot cheaper than a Matrox and will deliver solid performance. I'm not sure if the cooler will block another PCI slot though? You may want to look into this before buying if you need all the other slots.
The card's dual slot and pretty long + hot, but it'll do the job for less $ than any other. +1 4850X2
Thanks guys. Space will be at a premium. However if anyone could recommend a single slot dual DVI card... I might be able to install 2 of 'em. Mobo will be an ASUS P5Q Premium
You could try these> 9800GT http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/88589...GB-PCI-Express-2-0-Graphics-Card/Product.html a little long in the tooth now but still a good card.
Thanks 1Razor. A little too long in the tooth. What about 2x ASUS ENGTS250 HTDI/512MD3 cards. Twin DVI and PCIe. If I were to get 2 of these, would there be any point in connecting the dual link SLI bridges if I want 4 independent displays?
Of course, they are basically just re-badged 9800GTs! But they are Dual Slot! As long as you can live with 2*D-Sub + 2*DVI, just not sure if any lag will be noticeable between the two, depends on how may pixels you want to throw around? If it's just for standard video should be OK - HD you may get slight lag/break up because of conversion, I don't do BD so can't really say.
4850x2 2GB. I installed one for a client 2months back, kicks out some heat and he could only get 2 monitor out of 3 he was using to work in Windows 7 64bit. Around £200 i think it was.
