The last time I was looking for a PSU was when the Corsair 400WCX was the favourite around. (Lower end). The time has come again, just wondering what's out there now, still around the 400W range for a different machine. Dual core, three drive etc jobby.
I have a CX400W I may be looking to offload soon (within the next month). On the other hand I've heard good things about the Strider series from silverstone.
I've still got the 400WCX in a rig you see and it's still going strong. So you can pick up a 530 for £45.
I put one of these in a 2100 Sandy Bridge build a month or so ago, it only cost £29.99 on a Today Only special. It is dead silent but I never loaded it up. The reviews were reasonably good and I would buy one again at that price. It is on this weekend for £35.99.
Corsair PSU's are still good. Pick your wattage and stick to your preferred brands, and u wont go far wrong.
I believe the 400WCX got replaced with a 430W version, but is rumoured to not be as good. I think I saw one for around £35 though.
The 400CX was a Seasonic design, and it was 80+.. The 430CX is a CWT design and has worse specs all around, not as efficient or anything. Seasonic's SS-350ET would be my choice for a low power PSU.
I've just bought an strider 850W, must say they do seem really well priced, the corsairs have gone the same way as seasonic in terms of price inflation on the decent models, ie, not the CX or GX.
The Antec Earthwatts 380W is also a very capable, efficient PSU for a budget system. It's 80+ Bronze certified and it's commonly on Scan's today only deals for around £35. You'll have to re-use your existing kettle lead however since Antec don't include one with that PSU.
