Hi all. I'm having some trouble with my 4870 on Crysis. I'm running maxed settings except no AA, at 1920x1200. The same resolutions and setting nearly every review has. The problem is, they are getting from 27ish to 35 FPS, where as I am only getting about 22 tops, and as low as 18. Now if your thinking my other hardware, I'm running a Q6600 at 3.4GHz, 4GB of RAM at 902Mhz and Vista64; better than some of the reviewers systems. To further disprove that its a problem with other hardware, my 8800GTX used to get 26ish FPS, but in EVERY review, the 4870 beats it in Crysis. I've even tried overclocking 80Mhz core and 150/600Mhz memory and still the same. Also worth noting every other game is running almost exactly in line with the reviews scores. So, can anyone help me find my missing 6-12fps? Thanks
are the reviews you are looking at vista or winxp? xp would only be directx9 so that would make it faster. Just a thought. Also the sites that do reviews may have different drivers than the ones that are publically available. I'm sure someone from bit-tech could confirm (or unconfirm) that.
Natual Mod not only makes the game look a lot nicer, but it also improves performance slightly, I'd suggest giving it a try. Also the XConfig: Crysis optimization mod will boot frame rates nicely.
Latest patch, comparing DX10 only, using latest (only) drivers. Will try the mods thanks, though no doubt they used un-modded Crysis.
Good advice, but I'd rather not start messing with these. Besides, most reviewers will be running vanilla Vista SP1 most likely, and lets not forgot every other game I've tested is performing in-line with the reviews. Just seems to be Crysis being stupid
A lot of reviews also happen on fresh installs of Vista. So there's no bloated startup folders, no bloated registry, etc.
I found considerable performance differences with the syncing of my CPU to my RAM. If its something really wacky it'll slow it down, if its synced (even with a odd ratio) it'll perform way better. Also if you dont have decent enough cooling your components may be overheating and causing issues. Get CPU-z to see what your ratio is, and then set your bios to sync. Then start to OC. There are countless Temp programs, but be sure your not in the 80-90c's with your CPU, that'll just cause more problems. Hope that helps.
