I have a EVGA 680i mobo, and recently bought 4gb of G.Skill ram. (4x1gb). The computer kept blue screening, so I went 'back' to reliable old Corsair and bought a 4gb pack (2x2gb) of - TwinX 4gb TWIN2X4096-6400C5. The bloody thing still bluescreens!

I put my old Corsair 2gb (2x1) in, and the computer boots and runs fine.

I updated my bios earlier, hoping that would fix it, but alas, its no different.

    So, what can I do?

Edit: When putting just 1 stick of 2gb ram in, the computer starts fine.

This is a well-known issue with the 680i chip. Try Googling it. If I recall correctly, it has something to do with chipset voltages as well as RAM timings. Also, are you using a 64-bit OS?

this problem happened on my 650 i, I had to up the voltage on the asus mobo from auto, and then lower the speeds to 667, but it's still not 1:1 so it worked for me. It's been rock solid since.

Hi, thought i'd chime in, seeing as I run 4Gb (4x1Gb) Corsair Dominator DDR2-800 on an eVGA 680i SLi with no problems at all...

A couple of changes though, i run the RAM at 750Mhz to achieve a little higher overclock on the CPU... Never had any issues with it, and never changed any DRAM voltage settings from the default.

@ E.E.L - I have never heard of this 4Gb problem with 680i chipsets, seems like something i would have heard about being the owner of one... but still, if google says so... ;)

Yeah, I'm running a 650i chip and it's the same problem. Up the voltage on everything a smidge, and you should hopefully be fine.
