Hi guys, Quick question tot hose of you who use 4od. For you, is the player smooth? For me its always been juddery, irrespective of computer, internet connection, location etc. I contacted 4od and they said it was my network, but as I say ive used all sorts of different configs. Anyway, just wondered if anybody had the same issues. Ta, Bogo
Not really used it much but whenever I have its been fine on either PC or Xbox, I'm only on 3.5mbps ADSL so I'm assuming that's not HD. but its perfectly watchable.
4OD is a load of tosh. No matter your connection it is prone to buffering, ridiculous amounts of compression blocking and generally just a poor experience - well, apart from the adverts which run fine. It's not (ever) in HD, because C4 don't want to pay for the bandwidth. Basically, it's not you, it's them.
Never had problems with the windows 8 app, but the quaility is a bit pants [and a bit inconsistent] By far the worst of the catchup service [imo] is the itv one...
Wrong. I use it everyday from home, friends houses and work. Always a nice smooth connection if the BB package is at least 10Mb.
On a 78Mb connection, I was getting frequent pauses when watching an old episode of the IT crowd. Nothing else was running, so I put it down to 4od being cack...
Love 4od, use it loads. Never really have a problem with it tbh, very reliable for me over the years.
Works mostly fine for me (20Mb cable), but some days it just doesn't. It seems to have its good days and bad days.
So? I'm on a 76/16MB connection, and it's crap. Sure, the video might run the whole way through, but the actual image quality is terrible and full of compression blocking. Looking at other people's comments, and clearly I'm not alone here... EDIT: Just tried the iOS app for fun, and it's miles better. Clearly C4 don't care about the desktop viewers, but like their mobile ones.
runs very smooth for me through my youview box and smart tv on a crappy slow broadband connection. It does break up on my W8 netbook when I have a ropey signal so the app is not so good at buffering
Hmm ok, thanks guys. Seems to be a pretty mixed experience but generally decent. I just cant think why for me its always bad
