Please don't buy anything from someone on Gum Tree, or as we call it Scum Tree ! So many people that I know of that have been ripped off because they've bought something that was stolen or not the genuine item.
Ok enough headache with a second hand stuff, This is the cheapest brand new 970 I could find. Is it any good model? Is it worth the 227 ? Never heard of that name Gainward http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gainward-...ER-NEXT-DAY-/201443860205?hash=item2ee6fd5eed if It's ok, I will buy it right now ... Lost too many days in endless searching ...
It looks to be a reference card so it will be the same as any other makes reference cards. Gainward have been around for a while too.
Yup I reckon that should be fine dude. The 970 is just such a massive step up from the 960. I mean it's night and day faster.
Ok ok I just bought it all. Somehow you managed to stretch my budget from 200 to ~380. That's why I "hate" you guys, and that's why I come here every once in a while Thanks to all of you. Here Is what I bought after all : 225 - Gainward Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB Graphics Card BRAND NEW UK SELLER NEXT DAY 41- Gigabyte SKT-AM3 78LMT-USB3 Motherboard 35 - HyperX FURY Series 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3 1866MHz CL10 DIMM Memory Module Kit - Black 79 - AMD FX6300 Black Edition 6 Core (3.5/4.1GHz, 8MB Level 3 Cache, 6MB Level 2 Cache, Socket AM3+, 95W, Retail Boxed) I forgot to ask do I need to get separate fans, cables etc..or something, that does not comes up with the other parts ? Edit - all parts i ordered are brand new.
That depends really. The CPU comes with a heatsink and fan. It won't be the greatest thing in the world but it will do the job just fine - just no overclocking. In terms of other fans, your case will need some sort of air flow. What you you have at the moment? worst come to worst if things are running a bit hot just throw up a thread on here again and we will recommend some fans for you. The motherboard should come with all the cable you need and the PSU should have the others needed for power.
At the moment I have 1 fan on the PSU that is located under the case and intakes into the psu, 1 fan at the front, just below the power button, its an intake fan, 1 at the back, just next to the MOBO ports. its an outtake fan., Also I like to keep the box open as i had a overheating noisy problems with my current setup, if I kept it closed. So I would probly keep it open too, with more regular cleanings.
You should be fine unless you want to overclock the CPU. TBH? I think this is quite a big upgrade so you really shouldn't need to to see massive gains. This is what most AMD users have the most success with on a budget. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0068OI7T8?keywords=hyper evo&qid=1444480457&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1 It seems to work immensely well on Vishera Maybe build the rig then add that in at a later date? Ideally you want the CPU to boost to a solid 4ghz.
well yeah, If I want to keep my family together, i'd have to get the fan at a later stage. How does it sound "Hey baby, I just spent 24 quid on a fan for my computer, as an addition to the 380 i spent yesterday, and by the way, stop spending our money on shoes/clothes,bags, makeup etc....."
Lol i didn't knew Amazon deliver on Sunday. WTF, was surprised to see a delivery today... Now once the GPU comes it's time for assembling.
Can I use the 2x4GB (new) +2x2GB (OLD) Ram blocks I have, on the 4 slots there are or it's not recommended ? THey are on different speeds ofc, the 2gb is at least 5 years old.
Most modern ram (even though it is specced at 1.5v) can usually run at 1.65v quite safely. I would go into your bios and 1. Make sure you are using DDR3 now and not DDR2 2. That the ram you are using is 1.65v. If it is then you should be fine. However do know that very early DDR3 could run at 1.95v which would likely fry a modern memory controller.
Ok , sounds too advanced for my knowledge, for the sake of not messing up, I'll hook only the new RAM onto the new MOBO, and the old one I will sell or put in a cupboard... Same apply for the CPU, GPU and old Mobo.
IMO an extra 4gb of ram is not worth the risk. I looked very closely at your rig diagnosis thing in post 1 and I can't see what memory it is. AMD Athlon IIs and so on were different and there were AM2 versions that worked on DDR2 and then AM3 versions that worked on DDR3 so it's hard to tell without the production numbers on the chip itself. But yeah, to be safe I would leave it. Also. To get the most out of the 6 core 6300 you'll be wanting to switch to Windows 8 at least. You could upgrade your Windows 7 to Windows 10, but 7 has serious issues with CPUs with more than four cores (especially AMD ones) so yeah to get the most out of your new rig you'll want to switch to either 8 or 10
OK deal, thanks for the advise. I will be switching to Win 10, ( one way or another as a temporary solution). I have to reinstall anyway, too much junk on the current SSD.
Cripes I must be going blind... OK, you *do* have DDR3 it seems. 1333mhz DDR3. If you look at it closely (the physical ram) it should tell you what voltage it runs at. If it's 1.5 or 1.65v then as I said before you should be fine Sorry about that, completely missed it the first time I looked :S
My wife just said : - Why don't you get an external hard Drive, that we will use to backup all our photos and videos? You know, something that we are going to use only for safe storage of files, as we already lost a lot of pictures from our broken drive few years ago... And ofc i said : - EXTERNAL SSD it is baby ! Let me just ask the boys for something reliable and I'll get it for you. By the way I am still sleeping in the bed, even after she understood how much I've spent... Gotta love my wife. So any good suggestions on this ? I would say 256->512 gb would be the limit we aim for. Is it any cheeper to get a regular SSd and use an "adapter case" to use it as an external USB drive ?
