Here in California you can go to a range and rent any gun smaller than a .50 caliber. you have to be 21 and up (or accompanied by someone who is) to rent handguns though, because the sale of handgun ammo is illegal to under-21s in CA. I don't know where you can do a full-auto gun, though. They're retarded about stuff like full-auto, high-capacity mags, selective fire and stuff. ALOT.
Just look up local machine gun shoots. You can buy almost anything if you have the dough or buy the time to shoot it at their range. edit And another one
So this L129A1 is based on the LMT LM308MWSE. Which is legal to own, if somewhat pricey. Between their 5.56mm and 7.62mm offerings, they are a serious alternative to the H&K line. Nice. Something to keep in mind.
AFAIK PR California has by far the strictest rules on rifles. No conspicuously protruding pistol grips for you!
The l96 cadet version of the sa80 is nothing like the "real" SA80a2, unless it was cleaned properly (which was rare with cadets) and you knew how to cock it (which younger cadets couldn't really do) you would get stoppages every mag. Once you worked out how to do it it wasn't that bad, remember firing off 4 mags in a row towards the end of my time with the CCF in a couple of mins and apart from knackering my arm had no problems. The SA80a2 itself though is so much better, that video you've posted looks like it's using a1s-they were so bad the entire working parts of the rifle were rebuilt by H&K. Last time (firing blanks) on a 4 day ex didn't have a single stoppage even when using it on full auto in an ambush, and only battle cleaning it once.
Yeah, definitely among the most anal in the country. But I still feel quite spoiled for choice at the range, so it's all right.
Found out the other day that Pistol grips are restricted in Ireland Was hoping to mod my Ruger a little bit.
Will do, the next time I'm sending 150 rounds downrange. In fact, I'll do 150 with a Lee-Enfield if it makes you feel any better.
I swear its the only thing I truly envy about the US man, the fact you guys are allowed to do this. Hell I'd love a place in the UK where you can go in... pay some cash and get a weapon with ammo and just have some range fun providing you've got sufficant training with the device.
That sounds like a great idea. Everyone should experience the use of a firearm (not weapon, there is a difference) at some point in their lives.
Actually no there isn't. Not in the military eye... GUN and FIREARM are very different things. But "Weapon" to a military eye (UK) would be a handheld device or explosive device. Anything from knives and rifles to bombs and trip-wire based equipment. I have that argument ENDLESSLY with my clan-mates when they say "Oh the best gun is an M4A1" or something... sends me off on a right old tirade. Anyway, yes it is a bloody good idea.... that and I've just thought of something awesome >.<
I usually buy the surplus ammo cans, their water tight, stack pretty well and look badass. You can't get surplus rounds from army surplus stores, you'll have to look a little harder.
Millets is about as Army Surplus as it gets in my neck of the woods. You can get some green wool socks occasionally.
Word. I just want to fire a sig sauer p226. That's all I want. I have the full-metal airsoft version of it and love the feel and design. Though once I got there, I probably wouldn't say no to the chance to fire a revolver of some kind. I'd just have to bite back Clint Eastwood quotes >.>
You can only imagine how much of a supporter I am of conscription. Finland has it and it works a treat. It is mandatory for men, but they have 3 options; 1) Minimum 6 months military service (3 months basic, 3 months specialised) Can be up to 13 months if you do an NCO course. I went be choice and ended up a Sergeant in recon. best year of my life. 2) 13 months civil service. Working in old-folks homes, street cleaners, general jobs, etc 3) 3 months jail time. This is only monday through fridays though with weekends off Most civvies will look at it as "oh god, you teach them to kill people"..... The urge to punch them is high, but I resist. No, it teaches fitness, teamwork, coordination, problem solving, discipline in a team, self-discipline, survival skills, purpose, responsible weapons training, etc etc.... I went from a relatively unfit 22 year old to a damn strong 23 year old (birthday in August when I was there) who could deadlift 160Kg easily. Twice my own body weight. Ended up with my sergeant stripes, awarded best squad leader in the company, translator, military championship shooter (12th in Finland), honour guard for the Naval regiment (marines) on independance day, translator and presenter for international military tattoos. All in a single year. No regrets. Loved it and I miss my RK. /rant/waffle
