Worry that Intel will stop making 1366 chips and focus on 1156? Maybe.

Just been on the CCL website and it seems that you can already buy the above boards with 55% off.

Just ordered the GD80 for £90 inc P&P from them...

They won't, they will continue to make 6 Core chips. Plus, forget the notion that you'll ever upgrade a CPU without a new motherboard again to be honest. Platforms are the new norm :(

CCL has this deal already live! GOGOGOGO!

EDIT: Dan beat me to it! ^^ (Welcome btw!)

Heads up all! CCL have begun selling the GD65's. I just got one. I'm gonna try and bag an 80 later on.

edit: Beaten twice. Late 'cos of greed.

editv2: Now I wonder, will CCL let me buy a GD80? Or are Scan/Ebuyer my only hopes for them now?

It was slow for me too. My bet's on the site being flooded by UK, EU, and US users right now.

i have to agree here, (been bumped down, agreeing with Bindi) now with integrated memory controller, it is hard to just upgrade the CPU in 2 years time, when DDR4 comes out.

i read on Anandtech, LGA1156's dual channel memory will be saturated by 3 cores wanting to access memory at the same time (not 3 cores 100%, 3 cores happen to be in thrashed cache stage at the same time). so unless with better inter-core scheduling, it's very unlikely we'll see beyond 4 cores on LGA1156, for a while.

in UK, it's either i5 + cheap mobo for mid-range single GPU gamer machine or i7 920 for high end at the moment.

Is there a time limit to having one in the basket?

Damnit, they did have the GD80's up. They're cleared out already though.

I think I've got a GD65, that's what it says in my order, only time will tell. Maybe each store are allowed to do it at a different time.

scan said (apparently: http://forums.hexus.net/scan-care-hexus/170709-where-half-halfprice-msi-p55.html) that all theirs have already been reserved. You can already place orders on OCuk, but they've inflated the price to make a bit more profit. So it seems like the place to go is ebuyer, I don't think I'm going to bother tbh because it's just going to be a rat race :p and looking at the other motherboards on sale, some of them are sub £100 anyway.

All gone indeed. It's a shame if all the stores are doing it at different times. If so, who knows when the other stores will be doing it? I suspect CCL just wanted to get in first and steal business from the other three.

Tempted to join you in giving up now Dreaming. That said, I got a GD65. I was just hoping for a GD80 since they're so comparatively cheap.

Either am I. If they got a small number, it wouldn't surprise me that staff, family and friends took 'em all. If not for personal use, then for selling on Ebay. It's a shame that companies who're presumably trying to get their products out the regular consumers can end up basically giving money to staff at shops who nabb them all first.
