I have had no problems with my 560ti since purchasing it over a year ago, however in the last few days I have noticed a big drop in performance. All of my games now have low framerates including undemanding games such as borderlands and Medieval total war II. I think it might me caused by the gpu remaining at idle clocks as during gameplay it now remains silent whereas normally the fans would become audible. I the power settings in the NVIDIA control panel are set to maximum performance. Anyone have any ideas what wrong?
Think I had this problem with my Gainward 560ti, whilst playing Stalker Clear Sky. Wish I could remember exactly how I sorted it. I think I reinstalled the drivers, had a play with power options and reduced a few of the graphic options. Haven't had the problem since so I'm sure you'll find something that works. Will have a look on my pc when I get home, as on my phone here. Good luck
Same thing with my 570 last night - reinstalled the drivers and it's fine. Must be something going around with old drivers!
I couldn't get frame rates to drop with clear sky, but in Rage, if I turn on texture detail the frame rate drops to 6 or 7, and the gpu usage goes down to half of bugger all. Is that a memory issue? but it seems as if the gpu just gives up.
My 560ti did this to me tonight. Completely out of the blue. Don't know why it got stuck in 2d mode but a system restart sorted it out.
My 580 does this sometimes. I think it's a bug with some custom PCB cards, I reverted back to the previous drivers and that sorted it. For me, it was the 3XX.XX drivers causing it. EDIT: By "Does this" I mean gets stuck in the '2D Low' performance mode, being at around 70mhz core clock.
I don't think it's a custom PCB that's causing it but rather just driver issues. The throttling on the GTX6xx cards are much more aggressive leading to the same profiles on the GTX5xx cards which weren't designed for it. Well that or they just didn't get the throttling right.
I dunno, that's what someone told me on here when I posted about this happening to me. Like I said, easiest fix I know if it is the throttling is to revert to a pre 600 series driver pack such as the 29X.XX drivers.
