lol that is the truth for most extreme geeks(I include myself in this catogory)
I would love to have one but with my current budget i can't justify the cost may the 24" one soon and i would be happy with that.

    7800GT/X has dual-link?

I thought only "professional" cards, like Quattro/Fire/Maxtor stuff offer dual-link.

Well, it's indeed released today. I definately won't be saving for one, as the lack of inputs is a huge turnoff. The 24" is over $200 off though, about $900.

Still, it's less expensive than the Apple 30" *after* a student discount.

VGA, Composite, component and S-video. A la 2405FPW. And yes, before you ask, I would use all of them. The one and only thing I don't like about my 2005FPW is the lack of component-in.

Seems to me getting a pair of the 24" and setting them up side-by-side in portrait mode could be a more sensible option, both with pricing and versatility. 2400x1920 is hardly a res to scoff at, though it's 5:4 rather than widescreen (unless you'd rather have an ultra-widescreen setup, 3840x1200 sounds nice).

Even if I were to only use one, I'd like the idea of having more. You expect a TV to have more than a coax in for cable, I expect; I'd expect a monitor the size of a pretty decent TV to also have multiple uses. At LEAST component-in (HDMI would be nice too, though) for DVD playing.

There is only Dual Link DVI-D on the 3007WFP. However, it would need HDMI Type B to support its native resolution, as HDMI Type A can't support higher than 1080p AFAIK.

I'm not sure what the maximum resolution of component in/out is though.

Both GeForce 7800-series and Radeon X1800 series support Dual Link DVI - the latter has two Dual Link DVI-D TMDS, whereas GeForce 7800-series only has the one TMDS.

Heh, pwned. Yeah, I'd consider the TV, except for the fact that as soon as they add in a tuner, they always drop the resolution at least fourfold from what it should/could be, and that doesn't bode well with an image quality whore like myself.

So, the 1080p on the 24" will have to do. Luckily US programming sucks, so a lack of TV features means nothing to me.

As for component max res - I know it can do at least 1080i, as there are DVD players with upsampling to that res. I'd imagine what it can use is mostly determined by the TV, not the standard 400MHZ RAMDACs that DVI uses or whatever,
