Graphics 6 pin adapter for a 460gtx . . . . .

    I need two 6 pin adapters for a 460gtx and i've found several molex to six pin adapters but when i look at the the six pin connection only five of the pins have contacts in them . . three at the top and the botton right and left . . . . . . is this the correct configuration or should all the pins be filled ?

    That's how my adapter is laid out. The adapter came with my gtx 460.

    The official specification says that it shouldn't, but you can find cables with all the 6 pins fitted.

    The 2nd pin is called NC (not connected), some manufacturers add a +12v line on it just to fill it, but on the card connector it isn't used at all.

    The other two pins carry a +12v/8A line each, pin 4 and 6 are GND, and pin 5 is used for sensing/GND.

    So, it doesn't matter which kind of cable you get (with 5 or 6 pins), it'll work anyway :)
