So 2 days ago, I purchased an OCZ Vertex off of some guy on Craigslist. A day later, right after I had finished installing W7, the file system corrupted. After trying to fix it using multiple methods, it eventually stopped being recognized by any system of mine. So it's garbage now. Last night, I went to a local PC parts store and purchased the 64GB Crucial M4 CT064M4SSD2 SSD. It runs on the SATA III interface, and is listed to have "Up to 415 MB/s (SATA 6Gb/s)" S.Read and "Up to 95 MB/s (SATA 6Gb/s)" S.Write speeds. My rig is detailed upon in my sig, but you should know that I don't have a SATA 6Gb/s controller yet, so any test results are to be attributed to the operational results on a SATA 3Gb/s controller located on a Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H 1.0 board. Judging from reviews so far, this SSD is a winner, similar to Crucial's C300, which has been a smash hit among techies all over. So I figured since many enthusiasts will be buying this product, I'd put up a little unboxing photo gallery and a speed test result or two. I purchased this SSD for $115 USD (app. £71.34) Max Read Speed according to my results: 257.43MB/s
No photos of it installed in your compuer? For shame! I'd like to see how you've mounted it - used a 2.5" floppy slot?
